What is SOPHIA?
SOPHIA is a practical framework that helps organizations become more flexible, effective, and ready for the future. It focuses on aligning strategy, processes, and people to create sustainable growth, stronger teamwork, and better results.
The SOPHIA framework has a modern approach to realize more impact with your organization. With a strong focus on alignment, adaptability, and sustainable growth. This makes SOPHIA unique in the market.
A brief history
SOPHIA is the result of over a decade of working with agile organizations. Organizations who tried to improve their agility by implementing frameworks like Scrum and SAFe. Frameworks that are, in the foundation, great frameworks, but started to become more and more rigid by time.
While those frameworks are based on agile principles, organizations started to implement them as a solution. This is completely understandable, but it also slows down the agility of the organization.
Bob Kosse, the founder of the SOPHIA Framework, saw that there are plenty of other solutions to help organizations. All with their benefits and pitfalls. By combining the right principles and benefits from different approaches, Bob created SOPHIA. A framework that is built around the SOPHIA model and gives organizations a fluid toolbox to embrace real agility.

Principles
The principles form the foundation of the SOPHIA Framework. They provide clarity, adaptability, and collaboration — essential elements for building resilient, high-performing organizations that achieve sustainable success. These principles are the guardians that protect the organization from falling back into old behavior patterns. Let’s look at the 5 SOPHIA principles:
- Human-Centric Focus
- Clarity and Alignment
- Adaptability
- Empowered Teams
- Continuous Improvement
Values
Many Agile frameworks are ’easy to understand, but hard to master’. The SOPHIA Framework is the opposite. In addition to the guardian principles, there are 5 easy to understand and adapt values.
- Sustainability
- Simplicity
- Flexibility
- Collaboration
- Resilience

The SOPHIA toolbox
The SOPHIA Framework is a toolbox, built around the SOPHIA model. It is not a predefined way of working, but has all the tools, called patterns, inside to build an agile and resilient organization.
SOPHIA, as a framework, consists of 2 parts. Part 1 is the model that describes the pillars, principles, and values. Part 2 is the growing and evolving set of patterns.
